So if you've been following along on Instagram, I decided to take off for Iceland earlier this year for a workshop of a lifetime with D'Arcy Benincosa's, The Path Workshop. I have been following her work since I started shooting weddings and she literally brings works of art to life. She is quite possibly one of the most down to earth, loving, talented, genuine human beings that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. You know sometimes in life there are crazy moments that happen, and 9 times out of 10 we are so scared of them and we run away instead of taking them head on. Sometimes you just have to take a leap and do things for yourself...this was one of them. Not only did I need to recharge and get inspired for this upcoming (now current) wedding season, but I needed a recharge for myself. Mind, body, and spirit. I literally started crying one morning while we were there, so many emotions running through my mind. We were getting married, we just bought a new house, I've had struggles with my relationship with my older sister, so many things going on with my immediate family, that I couldn't breathe. I was so embarrassed. D'Arcy without hesitation and barely knowing me, wrapped her arms around me like a sister and told me everything would be okay. I literally felt like I've known her for years, and that is why she is so amazing at what she does. If you are every blessed enough to work with her or even see her on the street, you must sit down with her and have coffee. Just to see how she works and how she knows how to navigate even a foreign country is just amazing.
I'll be talking more about this workshop in the coming weeks, but I wanted to share some of my shots. These are from the day we got to our Airbnb. It was summer, so we had 24 hours of daylight ... bring your sleeping masks!! Also pack a hat..as being awake and traveling with no shower isn't the best! :) OMG the sunset... and seeing it bounce around and never really go down was amazing! These photos are from 12am!! Also, we tried to make friends with Icelandic horses and they eventually had enough of our antics.
Going on a photography workshop to another country is AMAZING! You have other photographers to actually take good pictures of you! This country is nothing short of perfection and I cannot wait to take Matthew there. More on the workshop coming soon!
